Grateful Dead 1992 Ticket ! for the " Scheduled & Canceled " Grateful Dead " Oregon Dead ! " Show ( 8/23/92 ) - at the Oregon Country Fairgrounds ( The Oregon Country Fair Site ( OCF ! ) ) ... in Veneta, Oregon !!! - The ' Almost ' ... " 3rd Decadenal Field Trip ! " - by Kesey & Friends !!!!!
Wow ... Grateful Dead Fans ! - Rock & Roll Historians !! ... and quite-likely too -- Oregonians !!!  So, what was that old-saying that's out there ? ... " Almost ... But No Cigar " ?!?  Well, I don't know if I'd go quite that far ( Thank-You ' Both !! ' 1993 & 1994 " Oregon Dead ! " ), but here indeed offered is a Grateful Dead Ticket ( 8/23/92 ) to what would-have, could-have & should-have ! been the " 3rd Decadenal Field Trip " !!! at the Oregon Country Fairgrounds ( O.C.F. !!! ) - which would have featured the Grateful Dead !!! on August 23rd, 1992 ( 8/23/1993 )!!  But ... when all was said & done - this Long-Awaited " 3rd Decadenal Field Trip " never did end up happening - though the Tickets were sold & issued !  Garcia was unfortunately dealing with some health issues, exhaustion, just a couple of months before - and though Tickets already went on sale for this ' would-have been ' West Coast G.D. August run ... it all got canceled.  And, soon after - the whole 1992 Fall Tour got canceled too ... which, in hindsight - was probably actually good for Garcia & the whole Band ... as they had been Touring-Hard !  Tons & Tons of dates in '92, '91, etc., etc.!  But, this one definitely-did-sting.  Simply because of the Importance ! of the Grateful Dead returning to play Veneta ! for the 1st time since 1982.  See ... yep, you get it -- 1972, 1982, 1992 ! ... hence, the " 3rd " Decadenal Field Trip !  GDTS & Ticketmaster sold the Tickets, and they sold-out Fast ! ( obviously ... Ha ! ) ... and, here is one of them ! -- a Vintage - Original GDTS ' Mail Order ' Ticket !  As these canceled Show Tickets were then later " Void-ed " & then kindly returned to Fans - if so desired.  The Band had not played in Oregon at all since the 1990 Autzen Stadium Shows run, and ... due to being ' Banned ' by Duck U. -- they were actually going to do Veneta ?!?  And, if you've ever been to the Oregon Country Fair ... my oh-My ! -- as this would have been something else !?!  But ... Cheers ! to Ken Kesey & Friends - as this Dream did indeed ' almost ' become a Reality !  These Shows would have been simply Insane ?!?!! - and, I have no-idea how Hwy 126 & the surrounding roads would have handled this kind of G.D. Tour traffic ?!  But, that we'll never-ever know.  But ... this we do know -- later on this year, in 1992 - Garcia actually ran into Dan Williams ( U of O President, at the time ) in Hawaii ! of all places, while Jerry was Scuba-diving & Dan was Vacationing with his Wife !  So, they actually see Garcia down there - and, Dan's Wife is like ... why don't you ask him for a photo ?!  So ..... Dan goes up to Garcia, introduces himself & asks Jerry for a photo of them together.  And, what does Jerry do?  Says Sure, OK - but ... you really-should seriously consider letting us come-back to play at Autzen ! - Because We Love Playing in Eugene !!  So ' click ' there goes the photo ... Dan kept his promise to Jerry ! - and on August 21st & 22nd, 1993 -- the Grateful Dead were " Back ! " in Eugene!!! ... for a " Triumphant-Return ! " to the University of Oregon - the Proud-Home of the Mighty Ducks !!!  Yep, and this story is no joke Fans ... as in fact -- U.F.O. even let the Band come back & play again ! -- for a 3-Show !!! stand in June of 1994 !!!  And, those Shows were indeed the Last & Final G.D. Shows ever in Eugene.  So, Veneta was so-so close - and, as it turned out ... Five ( 5 ) more G.D. Shows were played at Duck U. !!!!!  So . . . I don't know, what do you think -- " If " they would have actually been able to go through with playing Veneta in '92 ( as this Ticket reads !?! ) . . . do you think - that they ' just-might ' have played ..... " The Other One " ??!  Ha !!!  " The Bus Came By, and I Got On ... " !!!!! -- Enjoy !!!!!!!
